ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Christi.

You're probably wondering, “Who is this person and why does she think she can help me?” I'd be wondering that too.

I'm Christi. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State, a National Certified Counselor and a Coach for Moms. I'm also a mom.

After working in community mental health settings for nearly 10 years in therapist and management positions, I transitioned into private practice as a self-employed Mental Health Therapist approximately 1.5 years after having the first of my two children. I learned firsthand just how challenging it can be to navigate the demands of being a career-driven mom. The pressures we face daily are really tough. We're constantly getting the message that, “We must work as though we don't have kids and raise our kids as if we don't have work.” What an impossible expectation - no wonder we're so burned out! We're basically lead to believe that if we're succeeding in one area, we must be failing in the other.

Once my daughter was born, I wanted to do well in my various roles but always felt like I was falling short. I was burned out but just kept going. I was angry and resentful toward my husband because I always felt like I was doing more than him, and those beliefs were the catalysts for arguments. I constantly felt guilty because focusing on either work or home meant I was neglecting the other (at least in my mind). And I worred about all the things I was missing and how that would affect my family relationships down the road.

Eventually I realized that what I was doing just wasn't working and something needed to change. Through work with my therapy clients as well as my own lived experiences, I have learned valuable tools to make it all work. I've started to implement specific strategies to help manage my never-ending to-do list and set appropriate boundaries but the biggest change I've made was to shift my mindset – to accept things outside of my control, to embrace imperfection, and to get a clear perspective of my role and take ownership of my choices.

Don't get me wrong, the challenges are still there. I've learned, though, how to manage them in a way that has brought me closer to my husband and kids without sacrificing my own mental well-being or career ambitions.

My passion is to help other career-driven moms take control of their own lives so they can manage their roles of professional and mom with confidence, knowing that their needs matter too.

I currently reside in Syracuse, NY with my husband and two children. When I'm not at work or spending time with them, I enjoy hanging out with friends, watching sports and going to my weekly Zumba class.
